I am not proficient at blogging. I've had a blogger account before, and I can't remember what it's called.
I have a tumblr entitled "30 Reasons to Love Me", I MAY have listed 15 of those reasons and quit.
But, I think that this blog will be easier to keep. Considering, this will be the main way I communicate with my loved ones at home while I'm experiencing the greatness of God and His people in Honduras.
I'll tell you a little bit about what I'm going to be doing there.
...I have no clue. :) ha! I've filled out an application that stated I'm qualified to teach, do manual labor, teach backyard bible clubs, work with special needs children, etc. But I cannot tell you exactly what will be happening to me on a day-to-day basis!
It's pretty exciting, actually. Emilee Pearce and I will be working with Orphanage Emmanuel in Guaimaca, Honduras. We'll be there for a total of three weeks, and we'll be living in the orphanage with the children. Our work day is going to be long, and full of activities. We'll be up and at 'em at 6am (praying for the ability to transform into a morning person. ha!) and we'll be working until bedtime or later.
The orphanage holds over 460 children, from what their website tells me. you can visit the site here: http://orphanageemmanuelhn.weebly.com/.
The orphanage's vision is this :"To evangelize and disciple the children so that they may grow up to be good living lights and good examples in the ways of God to their countrymen"
Wow! What a big responsibility. I'm so excited for the challenge! I know the soil has been prepared before Emilee and I get there, so I hope there are hearts ready to receive Him!
You can check in with me through this blog. I'll also email you back if you choose to send me an email! Phone access will not be an option, because I'm leaving my phone here, and purchasing a pay-as-you-go phone when I get to Honduras. We are told that is the easiest way to call home to our families.
Please continue to be in prayer for Emilee and me! We'll be praying for you back home! So much devastation has happened here lately, and so much of God's love needs to be shown! Let's go into the homes of the broken everywhere! Whether it be in MS/AL or Honduras!
In Christ,
Ashley
